Cecilie Nielsen signed with Texas Tech on Friday out of Horsholm, Denmark
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech women's golf coach JoJo Robertson inked her second signee of the fall period Friday as Cecilie Nielsen sent in a National Letter of Intent to join the Red Raiders for the 2018-19 season.
Â
Nielsen, a native of Horsholm, Denmark, is currently one of the top prep golfers in the world, ranking 808th in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking. She is also a member of the Danish National Team.
Â
"Cecilie is going to be a great addition to our program," Robertson said. "She has a ton of international playing experience, and we expect that she will contribute right away. She is a strong player and works hard. We can't wait to have her on campus next fall."
Â
Nielsen has played in several of the top amateur tournaments in the world in her still young golf career as she took part in the World Junior Girls Championship just over a month ago, finishing 23rd overall at 5-over-par for the tournament.
Â
She also competed in the Girls British Amateur Championship held in England in August and then the European Girls Team Championship held in Finland this past July. Nielsen recorded one of her best career finishes in early July as she closed the Danish International Amateur Championship in third place.
Â
Nielsen joins fellow signee Anna Dong as part of Texas Tech's fall class. Dong, the No. 84 player in the latest Rolex American Junior Golf Association rankings, signed with Tech on Thursday out of Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood, California.
