November 10, 2017 | Women's Volleyball
Red Raiders look for the season sweep of Mountaineers at 1 p.m. ET Saturday.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball is back on the road as it treks to Morgantown, W. Va., for a 1 p.m. ET matchup at West Virginia Saturday, Nov. 11, at WVU Coliseum.
Â
Saturday's match is pivotal for both squads, which are currently tied for sixth in the Big 12 standings at 3-9. Nipping at their heals are TCU and Kansas State just one game back.
Â
The Red Raiders (14-11, 3-9) and Mountaineers (15-11, 3-9) enter Saturday looking to break two-match losing streaks. Texas Tech fell to Oklahoma, 3-1, Wednesday, while West Virginia lost to No. 24 Iowa State in straight sets.
Â
Tech defeated the Mountaineers, 3-1, in Lubbock earlier this season and owns the overall series lead at 7-6. Tech is 3-3 in Morgantown after dropping a heartbreaker last season in which the Red Raiders held set point in the fourth set before WVU rallied to send it to a fifth set, where they pulled off the victory.
Â
Over the previous 12 matches, Texas Tech has been forced to shuffle around its starting lineup due to injuries to libero Tita Akiu and setter Missy Owens. Wednesday's battle with Oklahoma marked the first time Tech was able to trot out its primary starting lineup since September 16 against South Carolina.
