Volleyball Hosts No. 16 Kansas Friday on Senior Night

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball will host No. 16 Kansas in its home finale on Friday, Nov. 17, at 6 p.m. at United Supermarkets Arena. The program will celebrate student-athletes Kate Klepetka and Taylor Haskins along with volunteer assistant coach Cristian Arellano for Senior Night.

Tickets are available online here, by calling the Texas Tech ticket office at 806-742-TECH, or at the door one hour prior to first serve. A reminder that Texas Tech's Clear Bag Policy is in effect for all home events during the 2017-18 school year.

The Red Raiders (15-12, 4-10) face a quick turnaround after a milestone win at TCU Wednesday night. Tech's sweep of the Horned Frogs secured its first winning regular season since 2001, matched the school's most Big 12 wins since 2006 and its most regular season wins since 2011.

Tech now turns its focus towards earning its first ranked win since 2012. The Jayhawks (21-6, 10-4) will be hungry for a win after dropping two in a row to ranked foes. Kansas, who was without the services of All-American Madison Rigdon, fell to No. 19 Baylor last Saturday before falling at No. 2 Texas Wednesday.

Texas Tech was shorthanded when the two sides squared off in Lawrence. Starting setter Missy Owens did not make the trip to Kansas after suffering an injury the match prior, and Tech rolled with junior Kyndal Cowan in her place. The Red Raiders started strong before trailing off in the 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-14) loss.

Back at full strength and in front of its home crowd, Tech will attempt to take down the Jayhawks for the first time in seven tries. Tech's last win over Kansas came at home in 2010. The Red Raiders are 16-28 all-time against KU, including 7-14 in Lubbock.

The Red Raiders will be looking to lock up a top-7 finish in the Big 12 standings with one win in its final two contests. Tech will be looking to improve to 8-4 at home Friday night, which would mark its most home wins since 2003 and its best home winning percentage since 2000.

2017 SENIOR CLASS

Senior defensive specialist Kate Klepetka is a graduate transfer from Texas A&M – Corpus Christi who played for Tech head coach Tony Graystone from 2014-15 before he came to Tech. The 2015 Southland Conference Libero of the Year is third in career digs among all active DI players with over 2,100.
Redshirt junior Taylor Haskins will also be celebrated on senior day. The outside hitter from Kennesaw, Ga., came to Tech in 2014 and will earn her bachelor's degree in December 2018.
Texas Tech will also recognize volunteer student assistant Cristian Arellano, who aids in scouting and performs drills in practice.

Texas Tech concludes the 2017 regular season with a trip to Ames, Iowa, on Saturday, Nov. 25, where it will face No. 23 Iowa State (19-6, 9-5). First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Cyclones.TV. The Red Raiders battled the Cyclones to five sets on September 29^th in Lubbock, holding a 2-0 lead before suffering the defeat.
