Lady Raiders Drop 79-75 Decision to Houston

HOUSTON, Texas – Three Lady Raiders scored double-digit points but that wasn't enough as Texas Tech fell to the University of Houston, 79-75, on Sunday afternoon.

Texas Tech (3-4) outshot Houston (7-2) with a 54 percent shooting percentage from the field. The Lady Raiders also made 50 percent of three-point shots compared to the Cougars 34 percent.

The Lady Raiders jumped out to a 9-3 lead in the first three minutes of the game. Houston's Jasmyne Harris and Angela Harris hit back-to-back three-pointers to make it a one-point ball game before eventually pulling ahead with 11 seconds left on the clock. Â

Tech outscored the Cougars, 15-12, in the second quarter to take a 36-34 lead into the break.

The Lady Raiders opened the fourth period with an 8-0 run, forcing the Cougars to call a timeout. From there, Houston would go on a 14-4 to capture the lead for the rest of the game.

Houston's Dorian Branch and Serithia Hawkins each posted 20-point games While Angela Harris scored 17 for the Cougars.

Junior Recee' Caldwell scored a season-best 24 points and was one assist shy of a double-double with nine. Sophomore Brittany Brewer scored 17 points and tallied 11 rebounds, marking her fifth double-digit game and double-double of the season while Brielle Blaire scored 14 points against the Cougars.
