Women’s Tennis Sweeps Utah in Opening Round

Texas Tech to face Alabama in semifinals of Blue Gray National Tennis Classic
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Texas Tech Women's Tennis team swept Utah, 4-0, in the opening round of the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic Friday afternoon.
The Lady Raiders (6-2) clinched the first point of the match with wins on doubles courts two and three. Doubles partners Alba Cortina-Pou and Alex Valenstein took a 6-1 win on court three just before No. 33 Gabriela Talaba and Felicity Maltby defeated Utah's Calton and Cheng, 6-3.
Texas Tech began singles with wins on all courts in the first set of play. Maltby extended the lead to 2-0 with a two-set win (6-2, 6-0) on court two.
Federici added to the Lady Raiders lead with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Utah's Taylor Calton on court five.
Sarah Dvorak completed the sweep for Texas Tech with a two-set win on court three, 6-0, 6-1.
The Lady Raiders will begin semifinals action this afternoon against Alabama.
