Lady Raiders stay undefeated in opening weekend of Big 12 play
LAWRENCE, Kan. – The No. 6 Texas Tech Women's Tennis team remained undefeated in Big 12 play with a 4-2 win over No. 19 Kansas on Sunday.
Texas Tech (11-3, 2-0 Big 12) started off the match 1-0 after earning the doubles point with wins over Kansas (7-3, 1-1 Big 12) on courts one and two.
Doubles duo No. 48 Gabriela Talaba and Felicity Maltby defeated Janet Koch and Tatiana Nikolaeva, 6-2, on court two just before No. 24 Sabrina Federici and Sarah Dvorak claimed a 6-3 win over No. 50 Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum and Nina Khmelnitckaia.
Junior Sabrina Federici extended the Lady Raiders' lead to 2-0 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Maria Toran Ribes on court five.
The Lady Raiders took a 3-0 lead off a 6-3, 6-4 win by sophomore Alex Valenstein on court three.
The Jayhawks captured their first point of the match with a 6-4, 7-5 win on court four over junior Sarah Dvorak. Kansas made it 3-2 after Bernard-Feigenbaum defeated Maltby in tiebreaker sets (7-6, 7-6)
Junior Katelyn Jackson clinched the match with a three set win (6-0, 4-6, 6-4) on court six.

The Lady Raiders continue their road swing in Illinois for two non-conference matches next weekend. Texas Tech will visit Illinois on Friday for a 2 p.m. match. Then, the Lady Raiders will face Northwestern on Sunday at 11 a.m.
