No. 7 Women’s Tennis Overcomes Illinois, 4-2

Lady Raiders extend win streak to six
URBANA, Ill. – The No. 7 Texas Tech Women's Tennis team (13-3) took down Illinois, 4-2, in comeback fashion on St. Patrick's Day.
Illinois (4-9) earned the doubles point with wins on courts 2 and 3. No. 24 Sarah Dvorak and Sabrina Federici opened the match with a 6-1 win on court one over Jaclyn Switkes and Madie Baillon.
Sophomore No. 40 Felicity Maltby dropped two sets (7-5, 6-3) to Alexis Casati on court two to give the Fighting Illini a 2-0 lead. Federici extended her winning streak to 10 matches as she earned the Lady Raiders first point of the match with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Daniela Pedraza Novak (ILL) on court five.
No. 17 Gabriela Talaba tied the match, 2-2, with her 7-5, 6-3 win over Louise Kwong on court one.
The Lady Raiders pulled ahead 3-2 in the match as junior Sarah Dvorak defeated Switkes in a three-set comeback (1-6, 6-2, 6-4).
Junior Katelyn Jackson clinched the win with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 comeback win on court six over Grace Tapak.

The Lady Raiders travel to Evanston, Ill., to face No. 48 Northwestern on Sunday for an 11 a.m. match. Texas Tech returns to Big 12 action on March 24 at Texas before returning home to host Baylor on March 26.
