
No. 9 Women’s Tennis Continues Win Streak at Texas

Lady Raiders defeat Longhorns, 4-2, to stay undefeated in Big 12 play
AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 9 Texas Tech Women's Tennis team extended its win streak to eight after defeating No. 22 Texas, 4-2, on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Raiders improved to 15-3 on the season and 3-0 in Big 12. This was the second win in Austin for the Lady Raiders and the fourth win over the Longhorns in school history, all coming under Head Coach Todd Petty.
Texas Tech took a 1-0 advantage over Texas (7-6, 1-2 Big 12) after winning on courts two and three in doubles play.
Doubles duo Gabriela Talaba and Felicity Maltby earned their 14th win of the season as they defeated Texas' Neda Koprcina and Anna Turati, 6-2, on court two.
Texas tied the match at 1-1 as No. 98 Neda Koprcina defeated No. 56 Felicity Maltby, 6-3, 7-5 on court two.
Junior Gabriela Talaba earned the Lady Raiders first singles point of the day with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over No. 37 Brianna Turati.
Sophomore Alex Valenstein battled back after dropping the first set to take a three-set win (1-6, 6-0, 6-1) over No. 84 Petra Granic.
The Longhorns pulled within one as Anna Turati defeated Sarah Dvorak on court four, 6-4, 6-4.
Junior Katelyn Jackson clinched the match for the Lady Raiders once again as she defeated Daniella Roldan (6-7 (8-9), 6-1, 6-4) on court six.

The Lady Raiders return home to the McLeod Tennis Center to host five Big 12 matches. Texas Tech begins the homestand with No. 15 Baylor on Sunday at 1 p.m.
