WACO, Texas – Former Texas Tech basketball standout Jason Sasser was named as one of nine members to the Southwest Conference Hall of Fame Class of 2017 announced by the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
Sasser, the 1996 Southwest Conference Player of the Year and three-time All-SWC First-Team honoree, ranks fourth on Texas Tech's all-time scoring list with 2,104 career points. He also garnered consensus All-America Third-Team honors and was a Wooden Award Finalist in 1995-96. The Red Raiders piled up a program-best 30-2 record, an undefeated SWC mark and advanced to the 1996 NCAA Sweet 16 during Sasser's senior campaign.
Sasser is the seventh member of Texas Tech's basketball program to be chosen to the SWC Hall of Fame. He joins Rick Bullock (2013), Bubba Jennings (2014), Dub Malaise (2014), Gerald Myers (2014), Polk Robinson (2014) and Will Flemons (2017). Flemons was announced as part of Tech's 10-member SWC Hall of Fame class in July.
Sasser sits as the only player in program history to amass over 2,000 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists and 100 steals. He racked up a streak of 71 consecutive games in doubles figures, the longest streak for a Red Raider dating back to the 1956-57 season.
