Texas Tech cross country takes two top-five finishes against Division-I competition.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Red Raiders competed at the Chile Pepper Festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, this morning, taking away No. 3 and No. 5 Division-I team finishes overall at Agri Park.
The women had a total of 92 points overall led by junior transfer Nokuthula Dlamini, who took a No. 17 finish overall and No. 8 finish amongst Division I competition. This helped lead the women to a seventh-place finish overall. Dlamini led the women for her fourth-consecutive race, pacing the 5,000m run in 17:35.5.
Leading the charge on the men's side was Joacim Zuniga, who completed the men's 10K race in an impressive 30:42.9, over a two-minute improvement from his last 10k race in 2015. This run from Zuniga aided the men in their No. 8 overall and No. 5 Division-I team finishes with 118 points.
"This was a solid race for both the men and the women," Head Cross Country Coach Jon Murray said. "I was especially proud of those who had big personal-bests today.
