Red Raiders looking for first-ever series sweep of the Wildcats.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball will play a late road match at Kansas State (14-11, 4-10) on Saturday, Nov. 17, with first serve from Ahearn Field House set for 8 p.m. on ESPN3.
Â
Saturday's match will air on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app as Tech looks to spoil K-State's senior night.
Â
The Red Raiders (16-11, 5-8) face an uphill climb to get back in the postseason discussion with three matches remaining in the regular season and an RPI of 69.
Â
A win Saturday would mark Tech's first win in Manhattan since 2004 and its first-ever series sweep of the Wildcats. K-State leads the all-time series 37-12, including a 35-10 edge since the formation of the Big 12.
Â
The Red Raiders have won two in a row over KSU, including a five-set win earlier this season in Lubbock. Freshman Brooke Kanas exploded for 23 kills on .452 hitting in the win, the highest kill total by a Red Raider this season.
Â
Tech looks to end a three-match skid Saturday against a Wildcat squad that went on the road and topped Kansas on Wednesday to earn the series sweep of the Jayhawks. Tech is now just one game in front of K-State for seventh place in the league standings.
Senior setter Missy Owens is just 46 assists away from securing her third straight 1,000 assist season and her second at Texas Tech. It would be the second big milestone of the year for the Yorba Linda, Calif., native who eclipsed 3,000 career assists earlier this season.
