Tech Volleyball Hosts Oklahoma in Pivotal Wednesday Tilt
November 06, 2018 | Women's Volleyball
Red Raiders and Sooners enter the match locked in a three-way tie for fourth in the Big 12 Standings.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball will look to defend its home court Wednesday as it welcomes Oklahoma (13-10, 5-6) to United Supermarket Arena for a 6 p.m. first serve on FOX Sports Southwest Plus.
Geoff Haxton (Play-by-play) and Mike Moffitt (color) along with Taylor Peters (sideline) will be on the call. Live stats will be available through www.TexasTech.com, while live updates will be posted to @TexasTechVB on Twitter.
The Texas Tech volleyball program will be honoring the brave men and women of our armed forces Wednesday on Celebrate Service night. All active duty men and women and retired veterans will receive complimentary admission. Additionally, fans who present their ticket stubs from Tuesday's men's basketball season opener will receive discounted $1 tickets.
The Red Raiders (16-9, 5-6) and Sooners are two of a trio of teams currently tied for fourth in the Big 12 standings. With five matches remaining in the regular season, the two sides will battle it out Wednesday for the upper hand on the critical fourth spot in the league standings as the Big 12 has never sent less than four teams to the NCAA Tournament.
Tech is also looking to avenge a four-set loss to OU in Norman back on October 10. The Red Raiders would like to clean up their service errors from the last contest, when they committed 11 to mark their second-worst total of the season. Defensively, Tech will also aim to slow down senior outside hitter Alyssa Enneking, who has torched Tech for 62 kills (5.6 kills per set) in the last three meetings.
The all-time series remains tight with OU managing a slim 37-35 edge, however, the Sooners have dominated as of late with 25 wins in the last 26 contests.
Both teams head into Wednesday following losses on Saturday. Despite winning its first set in Lawrence since 2011, Tech fell 3-1 at (RV) Kansas. The Sooners have dropped two in a row, suffering a sweep at No. 8 Texas 10 days ago before a four-set loss to Baylor Saturday.
