The Anthem, Ariz., native holds a perfect 4.0 GPA and is a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.
GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday that Texas Tech senior Brooke Denesik has been voted to the Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team. The senior defender is an accounting major in Tech's Rawls College of Business and holds a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She is one of four Big 12 student-athletes to make the District 7 team this year.
Â
This is the second time Denesik, who has started all 20 games on Tech's back line this season, has been honored by CoSIDA, the other coming her sophomore year. She is also a three-year Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection, and this year was one of a program-record 16 Red Raiders to make Academic All-Big 12.
Â
Off the field, Denesik is active in the Talkington Leadership Academy, which strives to turn Tech student-athletes into well-rounded leaders in the Lubbock community. The Leadership Academy also provides student-athletes with leadership-oriented curriculum and access to guest lecturers.
Â
Denesik, in her second year as a co-captain on the team, is also the founder of CURE Tech, a campus organization dedicated to raising awareness of disabilities in the developing world. She is also heavily involved in YoungLife, a Christian group that seeks to spread faith through youth camps, volunteering and various other activities.
Â
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if necessary) Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
