February 05, 2018 | Men's Basketball
Keenan Evans has won four Big 12 Player of the Week awards this season.
IRVING, Texas – Keenan Evans picked up back-to-back and garnered his fourth overall Big 12 Player of the Week honors as announced Monday by the conference office.
For Evans, it marks his fourth career weekly award from the Big 12. He joined former All-American Andre Emmett as the only players in program history to secure the award during consecutive weeks. Emmett won the Big 12 weekly award three straight times from Dec. 29, 2003 to Jan. 12, 2004 en route to a program-record five times in 2003-04.
Evans amassed 27.5 points, 4.5 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game as Texas Tech was the only Big 12 team to post a 2-0 record on the week and moved into a first place tie with Kansas in the Big 12 standings. The 7-3 start for the Red Raiders matches the 2004-05 team for the program's best 10-game start in Big 12 play.
Evans racked up 21 of his career-high 38 points after halftime and delivered the game-winning stepback jumper as time expired during a 73-71 overtime victory over Texas. The 38 points were the most by a Texas Tech since Mike Singletary registered 43 points versus Texas A&M on March 11, 2009 at the Big 12 Championships. The senior guard followed up with a solid all-around effort with 17 points, six assists, four rebounds and two steals in a road win at TCU.
Texas Tech continues its run of four consecutive midweek home games and faces off with Iowa State on Wednesday. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. CT from United Supermarkets Arena. The game will be televised by ESPNU and the ESPN app.
Tickets to Wednesday's game can be purchased for as low as $13 online at www.TexasTech.com or at the United Supermarkets Arena Box Office which opens on gameday starting at 6 p.m. CT. Doors open to the USA at 6:30 p.m. CT.
