Evans played in 131 career games with 100 career starts … Started 97 of his last 99 games during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons … One of four players in program history to amass at least 1,500 points, 350 rebounds, 325 assists and 125 steals during his career … The prestigious list includes Sean Gay (1986-87-88-89), Jarrius Jackson (2004-05-06-07) and Martin Zeno (2005-06-07-08) … His 1,571 points were 13th and the most for a Texas Tech player since John Roberson (2008-09-10-11) finished with 1,772 points … Piled up double figures 76 times with his longest streak being a 25-game run from 12/21/2016 to 11/22/2017 which was tied for 11th in program history … Notched 10 or more points in 56 of his last 62 outings … Registered 20-plus points in 23 games where Texas Tech produced a 19-4 record … His 458 made free throws were fifth whereas his 79.7 free throw percentage is tied for 11th in program history … The 346 assists were 8th and the most for a Texas Tech player since Zeno finished with 403 assists … The 128 steals were 10th and the most for a Texas Tech player since Roberson finished with 135 steals.
SENIOR SEASON (2017-18)
Evans became the program’s third consensus All-America selection joining Jason Sasser (1995-96) and Andre Emmett (2003-04) … Secured 17.6 points, 3.2 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game … The 17.6 points were second on the Big 12 leaderboard and most for a Texas Tech player since Jarrius Jackson averaged 19.9 PPG in 2006-07 … The 633 total points were ninth in program history for a single season … A finalist for the Bob Cousy and Wooden Awards along with a semifinalist for the Citizen Naismith Trophy … Garnered All-Big 12 First-Team accolades, the first player for Texas Tech to accomplish the feat since Jackson in 2006-07 … Collected four Big 12 Player of the Week awards, the second-most for a Texas Tech player, only behind Emmett who won five weekly honors in 2003-04 … His 81.7 free throw percentage (9th), 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio (11th), 3.2 assists (12th) and 1.1 steals (14th) also were ranked inside the Big 12’s Top 15 … Won 13 of 14 games when Evans managed 20 or more points … The 40th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 career points with a 25-point effort versus No. 20 Northwestern (Nov. 19) in the title game at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Tipoff … Poured in 25 of his then career-high 32 points during the second half and overtime against No. 22 Nevada (Dec. 5) … Exploded for 12 points during a 4:47 span where Texas Tech erased a 10-point deficit in the second half … Tallied a team-leading 15 points coupled with six rebounds and three assists at No. 10 Kansas (Jan. 2), the program’s first win at Allen Fieldhouse … Registered 27 points versus Kansas State (Jan. 6) to give the program its second 3-0 Big 12 start … Came away with a team-high 20 points during comeback victory versus No. 2 West Virginia (Jan. 13) … Garnered 22 of his team-leading 26 points in second half comeback win over Oklahoma State (Jan. 23) … Delivered 18 of his game-leading 31 points during the last 10 minutes of a comeback win at South Carolina (Jan. 27) in the Big 12/SEC Challenge … Rattled home a step back three-pointer to give Texas Tech the lead with 2:12 remaining and added an and-one layup with under a minute left to make it a two-possession game … Fired in 21 of his career-best 38 points against Texas (Jan. 31) during the second half and overtime … Knocked down game-winner jumper at the top of the key as time expired … The 38 points were the most by a Texas Tech player since Mike Singletary tallied 43 points against Texas A&M on March 11, 2009 at the Big 12 Championships ... Hit on 18-of-20 at the foul line … The 18 made free throws tied for second-most in program history for a single game with Rayford Young who was 18-of-18 versus No. 24 Kansas on Feb. 13, 1999 … Became the 8th player in program history and first since Emmett in 2002-03 to rack up 30-plus points in consecutive games … Surpassed 1,400 career points with a 26-point performance against No. 23 Oklahoma (Feb. 13) … Broke his toe during the first half at Baylor (Feb. 17), missed only the second half and was a DNP at No. 18 West Virginia (Feb. 26) due to the injury … Began a memorable March with a 23-point outburst versus TCU (March 3) on Senior Day … Pumped in 19.1 points and 2.9 assists per game over his seven March outings … Amassed 105 of his 134 points on 30-of-50 shooting during the second half of games … Notched 23 points, six rebounds and five assists against Stephen F. JUNIOR SEASON (2016-17)
Evans nearly doubled his scoring average to 15.4 points per game coupled with 3.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.0 steals during his junior season … Named to the All-Big 12 Third Team, the first Texas Tech player to secure that honor since Jaye Crockett in 2013-14 … Knocked down 46.4 percent of his field goals (14th), 43.2 percent of his three-point attempts (4th) and 84.9 percent at the free throw line (2nd), all three marks were inside the Big 12’s Top 15 … Buried 51 three-pointers which was second on the team behind Anthony Livingston … The 15.4 PPG was 7th, the 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio is 11th and the 3.0 APG was 15th on the Big 12 leaderboard … Ripped off 20 consecutive games in doubles figures to end the season (Dec. 21-March 8) and 28 of his 31 games … The 20-game run is the longest streak for a Texas Tech since Martin Zeno tallied 21 straight games in 2006-07 … Eclipsed the 20-point mark seven times sparked by five occasions in Big 12 action … Pumped in a career-high 28 points fueled by a 5-for-5 shooting clip on three-pointers versus Houston Baptist (Nov. 11) … Secured 16 points and dished out a career-best seven assists against Idaho State (Nov. 25) … Notched 23 points, four assists and three steals versus Nicholls State (Dec. 14) … Began 20-game streak in double figures with an 11-point effort against Longwood (Dec. 21) … Upped his scoring average to 16.9 PPG in Big 12 games, the highest for a Texas Tech player since former All-American Jarrius Jackson averaged 19.1 PPG during the 2006-07 season … Tallied 16 points and five assists at No. 3 Kansas (Jan. 7) … Scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half and hit the go-ahead layup off an offensive rebound in transition with 14.3 seconds left during win over No. 25 Kansas State (Jan. 10) … Netted 20 points and three assists versus TCU (Jan. 18) … Put together four consecutive games of over 20 points (Feb. 7-18), the longest streak for a Texas Tech player in Big 12 play since Jackson accomplished the same feat (Jan. 7-17, 2006) … Amassed 20 points at TCU (Feb. 7), 25 points against No. 3 Kansas (Feb. 11), 23 points versus No. 4 Baylor (Feb. 13) and matched a career-high 28 points at No. 9 West Virginia (Feb. 18) … Delivered 21 of the 28 points after halftime and buried game-tying three-ball with 4.6 seconds left to send game to overtime at WVU … Registered 18 points against Texas (March 1) during Senior Night victory.
SOPHOMORE SEASON (2015-16)
Evans turned in 8.7 points, 2.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game as Tech’s starting point guard for all 32 games … The 2.9 assists per game were 12th in the Big 12 rankings … Six of his 11 games in double figures came against Big 12 opponents … Dished out five-plus assists in seven games ... Knocked down 75.6 percent at the foul line, good enough for 12th place on the Big 12 leaderboard … Improved his free throw percentage to 78.1 percent and finished ninth in Big 12 games … His 1.3 steals per game in league play was 11th on the Big 12 list … Secured 12 points and five assists versus Minnesota (Nov. 22) at the Puerto Rico Tipoff … Tallied eight points coupled with a career-high six assists and six rebounds against Tennessee-Martin (Dec. 9) … Provided 14 points and five assists versus Richmond (Dec. 29) … Notched 11 points at Arkansas (Jan. 30) … Put together a career-best four straight games with 10-plus points (Feb. 6-17) … Amassed 13 of his 17 points during the second half and overtime during Tech’s win over No. 14 Iowa State (Feb. 10) … Drained the go-ahead three-pointer to beat the shot clock from 35-feet off glass with 1:35 remaining in overtime … Exploded for a career-high 21 points to go along with five assists and a career-best four steals at No. 21 Baylor (Feb. 13) … Distributed 34 assists over his final nine games (Feb. 13-March 17) … Added 14 points versus No. 3 Oklahoma (Feb. 17) … Scored the last five points of the OU game highlighted by a steal and a driving layup to give Tech the lead for good at 62-61 with 1:56 left … Came away with a solid all-around effort with nine points, five assists, five rebounds and three steals at No. 2 Kansas (Feb. 27) … Racked up 20 points on 6-of-7 from the floor and 6-of-8 at the free throw line against Kansas State (March 5) … Collected six points, a career-best seven rebounds and a career-high tying six assists versus Butler (March 17) in Tech’s first NCAA Tournament game dating back to the 2007 season.
CANADIAN TOUR (AUGUST 2015)
Evans piled up 7.3 points, 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game over his four starts on the Canadian Tour ... Connected on 50 percent of his field goal attempts ... Secured six points, four assists and four steals against Laval University (Aug. 17) ... Racked up 16 points on 7-of-10 from the floor coupled with six assists and three steals versus Carleton University (Aug. 19).
FRESHMAN SEASON (2014-15)
Evans averaged 5.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game with 29 of his 32 appearances coming off the bench ... All three of his starts came in Big 12 action at Kansas State (Jan. 14), versus No. 17 Oklahoma (Feb. 21) and at TCU (Feb. 25) ... Pumped in 10 points aided by a pair of three-pointers against Loyola Maryland (Nov. 14) during the season opener ... Added seven points, two rebounds and two assists versus Missouri State (Nov. 22) ... Came away with nine points, three assists and three steals against Arkansas Pine Bluff (Dec. 19) ... Registered nine points, four assists and three rebounds versus No. 11 Texas (Jan. 3) in the Big 12 opener ... Exploded for a season-high 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting and notched a season-high tying three steals at Oklahoma State (Jan. 21) ... Evans earned TABC First Team All-State, First Team All-Region II-5A and All-District 9-5A honors as a senior at Richardson (Texas) Berkner High School ... Also selected the league's most valuable player ... Selected to play in the 2014 TABC All-Star Game ... Richardson Berkner finished the season 21-7 and No. 17 in Texas Class 5A ... Had a career-high 35 against Plano West ... As a senior, he averaged 21 points, 6.1 rebounds and 6.0 assists, while leading Berkner to the Region II semifinals ...
