Red Raiders Open Outdoor Season at UTSA

Texas Tech one of nine programs to compete in two-day meet
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Track and Field jumps right into the outdoor season this weekend as they travel to San Antonio, Texas, for the UTSA Invitational.

During the two-day meet, Tech will compete against athletes from Texas, Alabama, Purdue, Texas Tech, Missouri, Rio Grande Valley, Corpus Christi, NYU and UTSA.

The meet will begin on Friday at 1 p.m. with the hammer and shot put. The javelin will be contested at 5 p.m. and that will be followed by the 3,000-meter steeplechase (7 p.m.) and 5k (7:50 p.m.). The remaining field events will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and the rest of the running events will start at 2 p.m. with a rolling schedule.

TOP PERFORMERS LAST WEEKEND
Last weekend, the Red Raider men's team placed sixth at the NCAA Indoor National Championships. After capturing the Big 12 Championship, senior Trey Culver took home second place at nationals as he cleared 2.29m (7-6).

Freshman Divine Oduduru earned points in the 60m and 200m as he snagged a silver medal in the 200m. He finished sixth overall in the 60m. Junior Charles Brown added to Tech's point total as he jumped a personal best of 8.12m (26-7.75) in the long jump to capture a third place finish.

Lone female competitor Zarriea Willis finished fourth in the high jump after clearing a personal best 1.84m (6-0.5).

Next up, the Red Raiders travel to ACU for the Wes Kittley Invitational on March 23-24.
