Red Raiders split squad at Sun Angel Classic, WT Classic this weekend
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Track & Field teams will split squads this weekend as they head to the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Ariz., and the West Texas A&M Classic in Canyon, Texas.

The Sun Angel Classic, hosted by Arizona State, is a two-day meet that opens Friday with throws events.

The West Texas A&M Classic & Multi is a two-day meet that begins on Friday with field events starting at 11 a.m. and running events at 1 p.m.

WHAT TO WATCH
Divine Oduduru opens his outdoor season in the men's 200m premiere on Saturday (~8:20 pm). In his heat, Oduduru will compete against several top-ranked opponents including No. 3 Michael Norman of USC and Nike athlete Fred Kerley who holds the 20th best time in the world.

Andrew Hudson makes his 100m outdoor debut on Saturday (~7:37 pm) against top athletes. Three of the Top 25 athletes will compete in the two heats.

CJ Jones and Vincent Crisp will compete in the men's 800m premiere section for their first outings of the season on Saturday (~8 pm). Â

Tech's 4x400m and 4x100m relay teams will showcase new lineups for this weekend's meet.

In the men's pole vault, Brandon Bray and Drew McMichael will compete against elite athletes in the premiere section. Four of the collegiate athletes rank in the Top 15 including Bray. Notre Dame's Nate Richartz and Kansas' Hussain Al Hizam rank in the top five nationally and top 15 in the world.

Odaine Lewis, Charles Brown and Justin Hall will participate in the triple jump for the first time this outdoor season. The three jumpers will compete on Saturday (~7 pm) against the nation's top athletes. The triple jump field includes three athletes in the Top 20 nationally.

BIG 12 ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Texas Tech jumper Charles Brown was named the Big 12 Male Athlete of the Week this afternoon after an outstanding showing at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
Â
Brown's wind-aided leap of 8.16m (26'-9.25") in the long jump placed him at the top of the collegiate competitors of the Texas Relays. His mark is the best among college athletes in the country and ranks seventh in the world.
