LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech softball team hits the road for a midweek bout at Abilene Christian on Tuesday, April 10, at 6 p.m. from Wells Field in Abilene, Texas.
Â
The Red Raiders (21-18, 1-8 Big 12) and Wildcats (13-20, 7-8 Southland) are squaring off for the first time this season after their February 21st meeting in Lubbock was rescheduled for May 1st due to inclement weather.

The Red Raiders lead the overall series against Abilene Christian 12-2. Tech won two of three meetings against ACU last season, including a 2-1 win in Abilene in which junior Jessica Hartwell connected on a home run in the top of the first.
Â
Tech is 2-2 in midweek games this season. The Red Raiders have split a doubleheader with New Mexico State, earned a 12-5 win at UT Arlington and fell at No. 22 Long Beach State in midweeks.
Â
Tech enters Tuesday following its third-straight Top-25 Big 12 series. The Red Raiders went toe-to-toe with No. 16 Baylor, holding late leads in games one and three before suffering a series sweep. ACU, meanwhile, dropped an 8-5 decision to the Lady Bears last week before losing two of three at Nicholls over the weekend.
Â
The series against Baylor closed a six-game Big 12 home stand for Tech in which it earned a Top 25 win over No. 25 Oklahoma State. Tech's first four league opponents were all ranked in the top four of the Big 12 Preseason Poll.
Â
Hartwell continued her strong junior campaign, hitting three home runs in the series opener against Baylor to set a new Texas Tech single-game record. The Galt, Calif., native ranks seventh nationally in slugging and 12th in home runs, marks that place her second in the Big 12.
