The men's tennis team serves up two points in a loss to No. 18 Tennessee
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Texas Tech men's tennis team dropped their second-consecutive decision in Florida by a score of 2-4 against No. 18 Tennessee on Sunday.
The Red Raiders, who now find themselves in the midst of a two-game skid, captured the initial point of Sunday's match with a pair of wins by the No. 17 ranked duo of Bjorn Thomson and Parker Wynn, as well as the talented and seasoned tandem of Tommy Mylnikov and Jackson Cobb.
In singles play, the Red Raiders lost their momentum to the Volunteers, as five of the six starters lost their first set. Tech's first and only point in singles play came from Mylnikov, who defeated No. 45 ranked Timo Stodder of Tennessee in straight sets, 7-5 and 6-3.
The Red Raiders continued to fight in the second sets, as junior Parker Wynn battled his way to a second-set victory to force a third set against No. 106 Adam Walton, who would eventually capture the match point for the Volunteers by a mark of 6-2 in the final frame.
Tech's road trip will continue into next weekend, as the Red Raiders will square off with Texas A&M on Friday in Dallas.
