Tech off to Salt Lake City with chance to compete at nationals on the line.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech will compete at the NCAA Mountain Region Championships Friday in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Tech squad is coming off fifth place finishes at the Big 12 Championships for both the men and women.
Â
Tech's women's group will enter the meet as the 11th-ranked team in the Mountain Region, per the USTFCCCA. The group's fifth-place finish at Big 12s was its highest since 2011. This effort was spearheaded by Seselia Dala, who placed 11th individually to pick up her first career All-Big 12 honors. She was followed by Claudrice McKoy and Binta Ka – both runners whom Murray was hoping for big races from.
Â
Tech's top individual finish at Big 12s belonged to Takieddine Hedeilli of the men's group. Hedeilli crossed in just under 24 minutes to finish fifth – the best finish for a Red Raider in three years. He was joined in scoring by Cornelius Kiprotich (18th) and Nathan Gift (33rd) -- both of whom PR'd.
Â
Action in Salt Lake City will begin at 12 p.m. with the women's 6k, which will be followed by the men's 10k at 1 p.m. The meet will be streamed live via FloTrack. Live results will be available here.
