Lady Raider Tennis Closes Regular Season at Home

Texas Tech to host No. 30 Oklahoma, No. 11 Oklahoma State this weekend
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 27 Lady Raider Tennis team closes out the 2019 regular season this weekend as they host No. 30 Oklahoma and No. 11 Oklahoma State at the McLeod Tennis Center.

Texas Tech (15-6, 5-2) will face the Sooners (15-6, 4-3) on Friday at 5 p.m. before hosting the Cowgirls (16-6, 6-1) on Sunday for a noon match.

This is the 34th meeting between the Lady Raiders and the Sooners. Texas Tech leads in the all-time series, 18-15, and have won the last nine meetings.

Sunday's match will mark the 31st meeting between Texas Tech and Oklahoma State. The all-time series is tied at 15-15, as the Lady Raiders have won four straight entering this weekend.

The Lady Raiders enter the matchup after a 1-1 weekend. Texas Tech captured a 5-2 victory over Baylor on Thursday before falling to No. 7 Texas, 6-1, on Sunday. Senior Felicity Maltby had an outstanding weekend as she earned two wins including a win over No. 17 Bianca Turati (Texas). For her performance, Maltby was named Big 12 Co-Player of the Week.

The Sooners and the Cowgirls played in their latest match. Oklahoma State came out with a 7-0 win over Oklahoma on Sunday.

Seniors Felicity Maltby, Lana Rush and Francesca Sella will be honored prior to the match on Sunday for Senior Day.

Felicity Maltby has been a staple in the Texas Tech lineup for the last four seasons and is having one of the best seasons of her career. With a 15-5 record (.750) at the No. 1 position, Maltby currently has the best winning percentage in school history. Her 64 career dual match wins ranks fourth in school history while her 82 career singles wins ranks 14th in school history.

Lana Rush joined the Lady Raider tennis program prior to the 2017-18 season. Rush has played the majority of her two seasons at the No. 6 position, boasting a 16-4 record. She has also contributed to the Lady Raiders' success with her play in doubles. This season, she has captured three wins over ranked opponents and has clinched the doubles point in three matches.

Francesca Sella is a new face to the Lady Raider program this season, but has found her spot in the lineup. She has five wins at the No. 2 position and has posted a 3-2 record in Big 12 play.

The Lady Raiders will travel to the Big 12 Championship in Lawrence, Kan. Seeding and match times will be announced on Sunday evening. The Lady Raiders are currently in fourth in the Big 12 standings.
