
Women’s Tennis Stays Perfect at Home with Win over OU

Felicity Maltby wins second straight match over Top 25 opponent
LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 27 Texas Tech Women's Tennis earned its fourth ranked win of the season as the Lady Raiders defeated No. 30 Oklahoma, 5-2, on Friday afternoon.
With the win, the Lady Raiders improved to 16-6 on the season and 6-2 in the Big 12. Tech is now in a tie for third in the league with Kansas. The Lady Raiders protected their home court record and have won nine straight this season.
Oklahoma (15-7, 4-4) took the early lead after winning the doubles point. Tech dropped doubles courts two and three to the Sooners.
Lady Raiders opened singles action with wins in five of the six first sets.
Freshman Kennedy Bridgforth was the first one off the court as she cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Jasmine Asghar on court three. It was her fifth win on court three and fifth win in Big 12 play.
Senior Lana Rush captured her fifth win in Big 12 play with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ivana Corley on court six. Rush is now 11-2 on the season when playing at the No. 6 position.
Felicity Maltby gave the Lady Raiders the 3-1 lead as she defeated No. 22 Oleksandra Korashvili in straight sets (6-3, 6-3). She has won back-to-back matches over Top 25 opponents and improved to 16-5 at the No. 1 position this season. The win also marked her sixth against a ranked opponent and she is now 7-1 in Big 12 play.
Denise-Antonela Stoica clinched the match point for the Lady Raiders with her 6-3, 6-3 win over Camila Romero on court four. She is now 10-4 at the No. 4 spot and is 5-2 in league play.
Freshman Nell Miller suffered a heartbreaking loss to Martina Capurro on court two after forcing a decisive, third set.
Freshman Olivia Peet closed out the match with a three-set win over Kianah Motosono on court five. After earning a 6-2 win in set one, Peet dropped a tough 7-6 (6-3) match. Peet picked up the win with a 10-6 victory in the tiebreaker set.

The Lady Raiders host Oklahoma State in the regular season finale on Sunday. First serve is set for noon. Texas Tech will honor Felicity Maltby, Lana Rush and Francesca Sella as a part of senior day on Sunday.
