Jung earns first team nod with Warren placed on second team.
OMAHA, Neb. – Texas Tech junior shortstop Josh Jung and senior first baseman Cameron Warren continued to pile up the awards as the duo received All-America honors Wednesday from D1Baseball.
Â
Jung earned his fifth All-America honor of the 2019 season pulling in first-team accolades. Warren, meanwhile, picked up second-team honors to raise his All-America award total to four.
Â
Jung is one of four players to repeat on either the first or second team after collecting a second-team honor last season. It marks back-to-back years with multiple selections on D1Baseball's list for Texas Tech and the fourth consecutive year overall a Red Raider has been represented.
Â
The honors are the latest for a duo that has been racking up the praise heading into the College World Series. Jung and Warren were named All-Americans on Wednesday by Perfect Game and the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association. They also earned nods on the Rawlings All-Region teams, determined by the American Baseball Coaches of America. Additionally, Jung was named the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award winner.
Â
Jung has been a dominating force at the plate and in the field this season, hitting .342 overall with 14 home runs and 56 RBI from the middle of the Tech lineup. He has been a regular on the base paths, reaching at a .476 percentage thanks in part to 22 doubles and a team-leading 52 walks.
Â
Warren has put together his best season as a Red Raider as he has frustrated opposing pitchers to the tune of a team-leading .354 average. He also leads the Red Raiders with 17 home runs, 76 RBI and an impressive .664 slugging percentage to go along with 16 doubles and a .448 on-base percentage. Defensively, he has stopped almost every ball his way with a .996 fielding percentage that includes only two errors.
Â
The two sluggers have connected on three home runs each during NCAA Tournament play alone en route to leading the Red Raiders back to the College World Series in Omaha for a second-consecutive year and the fourth time in the past six seasons.
Â
Tech opens the College World Series with a 1 p.m. first pitch Saturday against Michigan at TD Ameritrade Park. Coverage will be provided nationally on ESPN as well as the Texas Tech Sports Network.
