Red Raiders open conference play with top-25 matchup against Cowgirls.
LUBBOCK, Texas – One week after taking down its first ranked opponent of the season, No. 25 Texas Tech will have its first top-25 matchup, welcoming No. 18 Oklahoma State for the Big 12 opener.
Â
The Red Raiders are fully prepped for the grind that is the Big 12 schedule after knocking off No. 22 South Florida in Tampa on Saturday. Tech downed the Bulls, 2-1, with the help of an incredible, off-the-bench performance from goalkeeper Madison White that has since earned national recognition.
Â
White, along with the rest of her team, are up for what is pegged to be an incredible opening to conference play; Tech and OSU are tied atop the Big 12 standings after strong non-conference showings. Even more, it will be the opening weekend for a conference that appears to be wide open for the taking.
Â
"Usually, there is a clear-cut team that everyone is chasing," said head coach Tom Stone. "This year, it's hard to say who the front runner is. And now it's got all the top five or six teams thinking they can pull this off. Every game is going to be unbelievable."
Â
The Cowgirls will visit Lubbock Thursday at 7 p.m. looking to avenge last season's loss suffered at the hands of the Red Raiders in Stillwater. The Tech victory knocked Oklahoma State out of the top-25 for the remainder of the season, in addition to counting as the first-ever loss in their newly-built Neal Patterson Stadium.
Â
Sunday's matchup will feature the other conference squad from Oklahoma: the Sooners of OU. Last season's matchup with Oklahoma counted as Tech's first conference road game and first draw. The Sooners battened down the hatches and withstood a fury of Red Raider attacks in the final 10 minutes of regulation and both overtime periods to make sure both teams left with a point in the standings. First touch against the Sooners will be at 1 p.m.
Â
Live stats for each match will be available here. Both matches will also be streamed on TexasTech.TV.

ÂFor every other team that's played here, OSU's new stadium was too much.
