The 2019 season was the most successful campaign in Texas Tech history. The Red Raiders captured their third Big 12 title in four years, earned the No. 8 national seed and advanced to the College World Series for the fourth time in six seasons. Tech made its deepest postseason run ever, eliminating Arkansas and Florida State to finish as one of the last four teams remaining in Omaha.
The 2019 squad tallied Tadlock's fifth 45+ win season with a 46-20 record and a 16-8 mark in Big 12 play. Junior Josh Jung and senior Cameron Warren were named All-Americans while Clayton Beeter and Micah Dallas received Freshman All-America honors. Jung was named the Big 12 Co-Player of the Year while four other Red Raiders received All-Big 12 First Team recognition and three more received second team nods. Beeter and Dallas led a trio of Big 12 All-Freshman Team selections.
Jung was selected No. 8 overall in the 2019 MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers to become the second first round pick in Tech history. He led a group of seven draftees with four of those occurring in the first 10 rounds as Gabe Holt went in the seventh round, Caleb Kilian in the eighth and Taylor Floyd in the 10th.
