Texas Tech Falls in Saturday’s Match Against No. 11 Kansas State

The Red Raiders fell 25-16, 25-20, 25-13 to the Wildcats.
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech volleyball team was swept by 11th-ranked Kansas State Saturday afternoon at United Supermarkets Arena.
The Red Raiders (3-9) committed 28 total errors in the match while the Wildcats (8-4) had 15. Kansas State took the match 25-16, 25-20, 25-13. Brooke Kanas and Samantha Sanders each recorded 10 kills on the afternoon.
The first set remained tight until Kansas State used a 5-0 run to take a 16-8 lead. The Wildcats increased the lead to seven on a kill from Kadye Fernholz. Tech tallied the next two points to pull within five, but Kansas State struck back, closing out the first set winning 11 of the next 14 points.
The Red Raiders showed some fight in the second set after falling behind 17-10, Tech began to chip away at the Wildcats lead. With Kansas State up 22-16 the Red Raiders rattled off three straight points to make it 22-19, forcing a timeout. Out of the break, the Wildcats tallied the next two points to set up set point. Tech battled off the first set point with a kill from Reagan Cooper, but Kansas State took the set 25-20 on a kill from Jayden Nembhard.
Tech fell behind early in the third, as Kansas State opened the set with a 11-2 lead. The Red Raiders struggled to get any momentum going with 10 errors in the final frame as the Wildcats claimed the match on a 25-13 third set victory.
The Red Raiders will host Oklahoma next Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m. and 4 p.m. for the final home matches of the fall.
