LADY RAIDER QUICK HITS
- As a junior, Lady Raider Lexi Gordon put together a pair of strong performances against TCU. Gordon--a Fort Worth native, whose parents both attended and played basketball for the Horned Frogs--was a key reason for Tech sweeping TCU a season ago. In two games against her hometown's Horned Frogs, Gordon averaged 22.5 points and 13 rebounds.
Â
- The Lady Raider roster boasts one of the most lethal scoring duos in the Big 12 in Vivian Gray and Lexi Gordon. In fact, the Texas Tech tandem is one of only two duos in the Big 12 to both rank in the top 12 of the conference in scoring.
Â
- Lady Raider newcomer Vivian Gray has had an impressive start to her senior season, and has shown her ability to affect games in a number of different ways. In addition to being considered one of the best two-way players in the country, Gray is averaging 17.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game through five starts. She is the only player in the Big 12 to rank in the top 10 of the conference in each of those three statistical categories.
Â
THE SERIES
- Â The Lady Raiders and Horned Frogs will be meeting for the 57th time in the two programs' histories when they collide on Saturday afternoon.
- Tech has gotten the better of TCU so far in the series, winning 44 of the previous 56 contests.
- The Lady Raiders picked up a sweep over the Horned Frogs, winning their Big 12 road opener in Fort Worth, 80-76, then beating TCU, 87-83, in Lubbock last March.
- TCU has won six of the last 10 meetings with Texas Tech, but the Lady Raiders hold the longest win streak in the series, winning 37-straight from 1980-99.
- The Lady Raiders have historically been successful against TCU at home, going 19-5 all-time against the Horned Frogs in Lubbock.
Â
EYEING THE OPPONENT
The TCU Horned Frogs enter Saturday's matchup with the Lady Raiders having yet to face a road test this season. The Horned Frogs opened their Big 12 schedule on Dec. 2 in a 91-68 home loss to Iowa State, but have picked up wins against Lamar and Middle Tennessee to push their record to 4-1 on the year. TCU is led by 2019 All-Big 12 honoree Lauren Heard, who is averaging 19.6 points per game, as well as over five assists and five rebounds. She was also named Co-Big 12 Player of the Week last week for helping lead the Horned Frogs to a pair of wins. Head coach Raegan Pebley is in her seventh season at TCU.
