Â
EYEING THE OPPONENT
Coming off season-opening wins over Houston Baptist and Little Rock, the Rice Owls are 2-0 heading into Saturday's game with the Lady Raiders. The Owls return four starters from last year's team that eclipsed 20 wins, including the Conference USA Co-Preseason Player of the Year Nancy Mulkey. Mulkey, also on the watch list for the Lisa Leslie Award and Naismith Trophy, is averaging 18.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game through two starts. Rice will look to replace the production of two-time C-USA Player of the Year Erica Ogwumike who graduated last season. The Owls are led by Tina Langley, who is in her fifth season at the helm of the Rice women's basketball program.
Â
THE SERIES
- The Lady Raiders and Owls will be meeting for the 38th time when Rice rolls into United Supermarkets Arena on Saturday evening.

- Rice, however, was victorious in the last meeting, edging the Lady Raiders, 73-70, in Houston. The Owl victory marked the end of a 22-game Tech win streak that lasted from 1989-2004.
