Brewer Picks up USBWA All-America Accolade
March 23, 2020 | Women's Basketball
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball senior Brittany Brewer earned another All-America recognition this week, as she was selected to the United States Basketball Writers Association All-America team as an honorable mention honoree.
The USBWA is the second organization to honor Brewer with an All-America accolade, as she was named to the Associated Press All-America honorable mention team last week. She is the first Lady Raider to be named to multiple All-America teams in a single season since Jia Perkins and Plenette Pierson were both recognized by Kodak and the Associated Press 17 years ago.
Brewer will finish the 2019-20 campaign with one of the more accomplished seasons by a Lady Raider in recent memory. Along with her two All-America selections, the Abilene, Texas, native is a top-five finalist for the Lisa Leslie Award, and she was a top-10 semifinalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year.
The senior was named to the All-Big 12 first team for the first time in her career earlier this month and also earned a selection to the All-Big 12 defensive team.
Brewer was the only player in the country to average 15-plus points, 10-plus rebounds and four-plus blocks this season, and ranked second nationally and first among Power Five players in blocks per game with 4.4.
Earlier this month, Brewer became the first player in program history to be named a First Team Academic All-American in back-to-back years when she was named the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for all of DI women's college basketball.
