April 02, 2020 | Women's Basketball
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball senior Brittany Brewer picked up another All-America honor on Wednesday afternoon, as the Women's Basketball Coaches Association named her to the honorable mention Coaches All-America team.
Â
The honor is the latest in a string of national honors for Brewer, who was also selected as an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press and U.S. Basketball Writers Association. She was also named a top-five finalist for the Lisa Leslie Award, given to the best center in the country.
Â
Last month, Brewer was named to the All-Big 12 first team for the first time in her career, and she also was selected as a top-10 semifinalist for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award.
Â
The Abilene, Texas native was the only player in the country this season to average 15 points, 10 rebounds and four blocks a game. Her 4.4 blocks per game average ranked first among Power Five players and second nationally.
Â
Brewer was also named CoSIDA Academic All-America Team Member of the Year for all of women's basketball, while also becoming the first player to be named a First Team Academic All-American in back-to-back seasons.
Â
Brewer will look to become the first Lady Raider in 14 seasons to be selected in the WNBA Draft, which is scheduled for April 17 on ESPN.
