LADY RAIDER RECAP: TCU 61, Texas Tech 53

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raider basketball team fell, 61-53, on Saturday afternoon at Schollmaier Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Raiders were led by double-doubles from Vivian Gray and Lexi Gordon. It was the fifth double-double of the season for Gray and second for Gordon.

Gray finished with 16 points—including 14 in the second half—and 13 rebounds, tying her career high set last week against Texas. The senior also had a season-high five assists, a steal and three blocks in another all-around game. Gordon had 13 points, 10 rebounds and two assists.

Maka Jackson tied her season high in scoring for the third time in four games, adding 11 to go along with seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. As a team, the Lady Raiders had only 10 turnovers on the day to TCU's 14.

After a tight defensive first quarter after which the Lady Raiders led, 10-9, Tech rattled off a 14-2 run to open the second period and seize a 24-11 lead midway through the frame. The Horned Frogs would get the final word in before halftime, however, scoring nine-straight to cut the Texas Tech advantage to 24-20 at the break.

The Lady Raiders expanded their lead to five by the end of the third quarter, holding the Horned Frogs to 31.3 percent shooting while posting their best shooting quarter of the night at 41.2 percent.

TCU would pick it up offensively in the fourth, hitting 8-of-16 shots and 3-of-5 three pointers to take control of the game.

The Lady Raiders will head back home to host West Virginia on Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at United Supermarkets Arena. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
