Amy Taylor wrapped the Illini Collegiate at even-par or better for the fourth-straight tournament
LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 20 Texas Tech women's golf team finished tied for eighth in the Illini Collegiate on Tuesday after completing the second and third round due to a weather delay that cut play short on Monday.
The Red Raiders, upon resuming the second round around the turn, could not find the same consistency Tech used to shoot up the leaderboard Monday, combining for a 10-over 298 card to drop into seventh place. Tech fell an additional spot after a 2-over 290 final round that moved the Red Raiders to 1-over 865 for the tournament.
Amy Taylor led the way for the Red Raiders, finishing tied for 27th place after shooting a 1-over 73 in the final round. Taylor has yet to finish a tournament over par, finishing even with a 216 final card. She wrapped the second round at 2-over.
Gala Dumez and Anna Dong both finished tied for 33rd place and recorded the second-lowest rounds of the tournament and their lowest rounds of the season after shooting 5-under 67 in the first round. The two mirrored each other cards Tuesday, shooting a 77 the second round and finishing with a 73 in the third round to wrap the event 1-over 217.
Chiara Horder and Chelsea Romas rounded out the rest of the Red Raider lineup as the two freshmen tied for 50th place at 5-over 221. Horder finished the tournament with her second-lowest round of the season in terms of strokes, signing for a 1-under 71.
The 15-team tournament was held at historic Medinah Country Club outside of Chicago and hosted by the University of Illinois. No. 11 Georgia and Louisville tied for first place followed by Purdue, No. 19 LSU, San Jose State, Kent State, Illinois and then Tech.
The Red Raiders will be back in action on at the Jim West Challenge in San Marcos, Texas. The two-day tournament will begin Sunday at the Kissing Tree Golf Club.
