LUBBOCK, Texas – The No. 20 Texas Tech women's golf team will head to one of the premier events in college golf this week as the Red Raiders tee off Monday at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas.
Â
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be held at the Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, featuring one of the top fields in the country, including host No. 6 Arkansas as well as No. 9 Arizona, No. 16 Ole Miss and No. 24 UCLA. The tournament, which includes the men's team as well for each respective school, also has Houston, Illinois, Louisville, North Carolina and Tennessee in the field.
Â
Head coach JoJo Robertson will send an experienced lineup to Arkansas led by Amy Taylor, who tied for fourth in the Mercedes-Benz Invitational nearly two weeks ago and is averaging 70.7 strokes per round through two events. Joining Taylor will be juniors Anna Dong and Cecilie Nielsen, sophomore Gala Dumez and freshman Chiara Horder.
Â
Nielsen, a member of two NCAA Regional squads, will be making her season debut besides the four others who have played in each of Texas Tech's first two events of the season at the Sam Golden Invitational and the Mercedes-Benz Invitational. Tech opened the season with a runner-up finish in Denton before departing Tennessee a week later in seventh place. Â
Â
Dong, who tied for 16th place in the Mercedes-Benz Invitational, is averaging 71.8 strokes per round alongside Horder to rank second on the team early in the season. Horder began her collegiate career in strong fashion, closing the Sam Golden Invitational in fifth place.
Â
The Red Raiders will all tee off at 9:15 a.m. Monday morning from the No. 10 hole. Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament at Golfstat.com.
Â
Golf Channel will provide daily coverage of the event, beginning with its College Central show at 2:30 p.m. and then live coverage from 3-6 p.m. all three days.
