RED RAIDER QUICK HITS
- Texas Tech split last weekend's series at Baylor, taking down the ninth-ranked Bears in five sets on Friday before falling in four sets Saturday. Tech's reverse sweep on Friday marked the program's first win over a top 10 opponent in 25 years when the Red Raiders defeated No. 5 Nebraska back in 1996. The win also marked the first top 10 road win in program history.
- The Red Raiders reverse sweep of Baylor was the second reverse sweep of the season for Texas Tech. Tech came back from down 2-0 against NC State earlier this season at the Tennessee Classic.
- Alex Kirby reached a major career milestone last weekend when she recorded exactly 44 assists against Baylor to hit the 2,000-career assist mark. The senior has tallied 577 assists this season with five straight matches of 40+ assists and seven total on the season.
- Karrington Jones leads the Big 12 in hitting percentage and is 22nd in the nation with a .403 hitting clip. The senior middle blocker was instrumental in the Red Raiders win over Baylor, with 11 kills in the match. She tied her career-mark of 12 kills the next day, hitting .526 as Tech came up just short of forcing a fifth set against the Bears. Jones has 102 kills on the season (1.92 k/s), fourth most on the squad.
- Texas Tech sophomore setter Reese Rhodes will face off against a familiar opponent when Iowa State comes to town. Rhodes' older sister, Avery, is a redshirt senior middle blocker for the Cyclones.
- Iowa State holds a narrow advantage in the series against Tech with a 29-24 overall record, but the Red Raiders have won four of the last six meetings against the Cyclones. Last season Tech split the series in Ames, dropping the first match in four sets before winning in five sets the next day.
