RECAP: Red Raiders defeat Horned Frogs to sweep series

Texas Tech volleyball earns its first series sweep of the season against TCU
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech volleyball team (15-10, 5-7) picked up its first conference series sweep of the season taking down TCU (8-12, 2-8) in three sets for the second straight night on Saturday at United Supermarkets Arena. The Red Raiders held the Horned Frogs to .044 hitting in the match.
Karrington Jones' 13 kills on a .600 hitting clip paced the Red Raiders. Caitlin Dugan tallied eight kills and Reagan Cooper added seven. A trio of Red Raiders tallied double-digit digs led by Alex Torres with 13 and followed by KJ Adams with 11 and Kenna Sauer's 10. Tech totaled 49 digs as a team, the second most in a three set match this season.
Tech started the match slow, taking an early timeout down 5-1 in the first set. The Red Raiders pulled within one at the media timeout, 15-14 and continued to stay within reach before a kill from Brooke Kanas and an ace from Torres tied the match at 21. The Red Raiders went ahead by one with back-to-back points, forcing TCU to take a timeout down 23-22. The Horned Frogs would tie the set at 24 but Jones' fourth kill gave Tech set point and a TCU attack error ended the opening frame 26-24.
The Red Raiders led 8-5 in the first set before a 4-0 TCU run put the Horned Frogs ahead by one. Tech regained the lead going into the media timeout after a kill from Kirby made it 15-14. Tech began to pull away out of the break, going on a 12-4 run to close the set and take a two-set advantage in the match.
The third set was all Tech as the Red Raiders dominated TCU, holding the Horned Frogs to a -.135 hitting clip in a 25-11 set win. Tech opened the match with a 12-2 run as TCU used up both of their timeouts. Another run, this time of six points, put Tech up 18-3. The Horned Frogs were able to go on a 4-1 run to try and bring the set within reach, but Tech finished things off with a block from Maddie O'Brien and Tatum Rohme to sweep the Horned Frogs.

The Red Raiders will get a week of rest before traveling to West Virginia Nov. 18-19 for the final Big 12 road series of the season.
