LAST TIME OUT FOR THE LADY RAIDERS:
In their last contest, the Lady Raiders dropped UNLV 68-61. In that game, Tech got off to a fast start to lead 21-10 after one period. UNLV would respond, to cut the Lady Raider lead to just 61-59 with less than two minutes to play, but Tech used a clutch jumper from Vivian Gray to jumpstart a 7-2 run over the final minute plus of action. Gray finished the contest with 23 points, her 48th career game with at least 20 points.
KNOW YOUR FOES:
Ole Miss enters Monday's contest with an overall record of 10-1. One of the best defensive teams in the country, Ole Miss comes off an impressive 73-48 victory over Samford. With the win, Ole Miss ran its winning streak to 10 overall and recorded the eighth game this season allowing 50 or fewer points. The Rebels are led by Preseason All-SEC selection and projected WNBA lottery pick Shakeria Austin. Austin is averaging 14.2 points and 9.0 rebounds this season.
No. 22 LSU enters the weekend at 9-1 overall. The Tigers have won eight in-a-row dating back to their 88-74 loss to Florida Gulf Coast back on Nov. 14. LSU opens the West Palm Beach Invitational with Clemson at 4:45 (CT) on Monday. LSU is led by a familiar face, as former Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey took the LSU job in the offseason. The Tigers are led by Khayla Pointer and Alexis Morris. Pointer is averaging 16.8 points and 6.7 rebounds a game, while Morris is contributing 14.0 points a game.
The Lady Raiders close out non-conference play when UIW visits United Supermarkets Arena for a 7 p.m. contest on Dec. 29.
