RED RAIDER QUICK HITS
- The Red Raiders swept their first series of the season last weekend with a trio of wins over New Mexico. Erin Edmoundson and Morgan Hornback each through complete game shutouts and Tech outscored New Mexico 14-3 over three games.
- Edmoundson's complete game one-hit shutout was her second such game of the season, the first since opening weekend against Colorado State. After giving up a single in the first inning, Edmoundson followed it up with six hitless innings as the Red Raiders defeated the Lobos 6-0. The lefty tied her season high with eight strikeouts in the game.
- The Texas Tech defense has been putting on a clinic this season, ranking 12th in the country in fielding percentage (.982) with 11 errorless games on the young season. The Red Raiders have also been making a number of eye-catching plays, highlighted by a phenomenal double play from Heaven Burton last weekend. Burton reached over the right field wall in foul territory to snag a ball and then threw to second to double up the runner trying to advance.
- Erin Edmoundson and Missy Zoch rank in the top 10 in the Big 12 in multiple categories this season. Edmoundson leads the conference in strikeouts (52) and games started (9) and is second in innings pitched (59.0), third in complete games (4) and shutouts (2) and fourth in appearances (13). Zoch ranks seventh in strikeouts (38) and innings pitched (39.0) and fifth in games started (7). They are both tied for eighth in wins (5).
- Texas Tech holds a 12-4 record against UTEP, last facing the Miners in 2019 as the Red Raiders picked up a 16-8 run-rule win in Lubbock.
- Saturday marks the first time the Red Raiders and the Texans will meet on the softball diamond.
