Red Raiders Head to Stillwater for Final Big 12 Tune-Up
April 10, 2021 | Women's Golf
Texas Tech will be the second-highest ranked program in the four-team field
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech women's golf team will receive its final test prior to the Big 12 Championships beginning Sunday when the Red Raiders travel to Stillwater for the Cowgirl Match Play hosted by Oklahoma State.
Â
This will be the second trip to Stillwater this season for the Red Raiders, who finished second at the Cowgirl Classic back in October. That tournament was held at Karsten Creek Golf Club as opposed to the Stillwater Country Club, the site for this week's match-play event.
Â
Stillwater is a familiar spot for head coach JoJo Robertson, who played collegiately at Oklahoma State and will be returning to her alma mater for only the third time as a head coach. Her brother, Greg Robertson, is in his first season as the head coach for the Cowgirls.
Â
The two-day, three round match-play format will begin with the two siblings facing off against each other at 2:35 p.m. Sunday. Day two will start at 8:30 a.m. Monday with the Red Raiders and Oklahoma followed by a 1:15 p.m. final match later that day against Tulsa. The tournament champion will be determined by the best record of the four teams.
Â
As a team, the Red Raiders have hit their stride over the past month, winning two team titles while also finishing runner-up two weeks ago at the Bruzzy Challenge without standout Sofia Garcia, who was competing at the Augusta National Women's Amateur.
Â
The Red Raiders will be the second-highest ranked program in the field as Tech moved to No. 27 in Golfstat's recent rankings, trailing only No. 7 Oklahoma State. Oklahoma enters this week ranked 32nd in the poll, while Tulsa is No. 54 overall.
Â
Live coverage will be available throughout the Cowgirl Match Play via Golfstat.com.
