No. 5 Tech Closes Regular Season at Home against Kansas

Red Raiders to host Jayhawks Thursday-Saturday at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park
LUBBOCK, Texas – No. 5 Texas Tech baseball returns home for its final series of the regular season this weekend as the Red Raiders host Kansas for a three-game set Thursday-Saturday at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.

Earlier this week, the two clubs announced a revised series schedule that features a 6:30 p.m. first pitch for Thursday's opener, a 2 p.m. start time on Friday, and a noon start on Saturday. Each game can be seen on Big 12 Now on ESPN+ and heard on the radio via the Texas Tech Sports Network.

The Red Raiders (32-11; 12-9) are looking for a strong finish to its regular-season resume with an eye on the NCAA postseason. Following last week's road series win at Oklahoma, Tech enters the weekend solidly in third place in the Big 12 standings with the conference tournament on deck next week.

Kansas (29-24; 7-14) heads to Lubbock with momentum after earning the series win against in the Sunflower Showdown against in-state rival Kansas State. The Jayhawks shutout a potent K-State lineup in a doubleheader on Friday to claim the series. They won the opener, 2-0, and then no-hit the wildcats in a 10-0 run-rule victory.

Thursday's matchup will mark the 73rd all-time between the two programs. Tech holds a 46-26 lead in the all-time series, including a 25-10 advantage in Lubbock. The Red Raiders have won five straight series against the Jayhawks dating back to 2015 and have been victors in 13 of the last 15 battles overall.

Saturday: RHP Chase Hampton (2-0, 4.72 ERA) vs. RHP Everhett Hazelwood (2-3, 6.62 ERA)
MILITARY DAY
Thursday's series opener is Military Night at Rip Griffin Park. Multiple Texas Tech Military and Veterans organizations will be recognized prior to the game. The Red Raiders will show their support for all active military and veterans by wearing camouflage caps for the evening.

The Texas Tech baseball program will celebrate Senior Day on Saturday prior to the final home game of the regular season. Right-handed pitcher Connor Queen will be recognized for his contributions to the program since arriving from Odessa College prior to the 2018 season. Queen has been an integral part of the bullpen for two College World Series clubs and a Big 12 Championship squad. He has made 46 career appearances and owns a 6-0 record and 3.23 ERA for his career. Texas Tech will also honor student manager Cameron Vega.

HR DERBY IN NORMAN
Texas Tech has been one of the country's top offenses all year, but its ability to hit the long ball was on full display last week in its series win at Oklahoma. The Red Raiders hit 12 home runs on the weekend, including three grand slams, en route to outscoring the Sooners 28-4 in the final two games. The 12 dingers were the most in a series by the Red Raiders since at least 2001, and the three grand slams were their most in a weekend since 1999. Saturday's contest was the first multi-grand slam game for Tech since 1997. The Red Raiders run-ruled the Sooners on Sunday for its first run-rule win on the road since 2016 at Oklahoma State.

The Tech lineup is led by Big 12 Player of the Year candidate Jace Jung and teammates Dru Baker, Cal Conley and Braxton Fulford. Tech currently ranks in the top 10 nationally in five offensive categories, including home runs, home runs per game, slugging percentage, scoring and base on balls. The Red Raiders lead the Big 12 in home runs per game, slugging percentage and scoring. Tech is also in the top-20 nationally in base on balls and on base percentage.
