
Jung Named First Team All-American by Perfect Game

Jung is one of three Big 12 student-athletes placed on the first team
LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech Baseball's Jace Jung continues to collect accolades as he was named to Perfect Game's 2021 All-America First Team, it was announced Friday.

It's his fourth All-America honor of the postseason as Perfect Game joins Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) in placing him on their first teams while Baseball America tabbed him to their second team. Â

This is the eighth All-America honor overall for the Red Raiders following the 2021 season. Shortstop Cal Conley joined Jung with All-America recognition from Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and the NCBWA. The middle infield duo were also named Freshman All-Americans by the NCBWA.

In addition to his All-America honors, Jung has compiled quite the list of awards following his second season in Lubbock. The freshman second baseman was tabbed Big 12 Player of the Year and a unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection. The NCBWA named him their National Freshman Hitter of the Year, their District 7 Co-Player of the Year, and a member of their District 7 First Team. He is also a member of the ABCA All-Region Team, a Golden Spikes Award semifinalist and a Dick Howser Trophy finalist.

Jung helped lead the Red Raiders to their third consecutive Super Regional appearance, including a 3-0 sweep of the Lubbock Regional. He hit .337 on the year and led the Big 12 with 21 home runs, 67 RBI, and a .697 slugging percentage, ranking among the nation's best in all three categories. Additionally, he accomplished the rare feat of reaching base safely in every game during the regular season.
