SOCCER RECAP: #21 Texas Tech 2, Arizona State 3
September 12, 2021 | Women's Soccer
TUCSON, Arizona – No. 21 Texas Tech suffered its first loss of the season to Arizona State, 3-2, as its comeback attempt in the second half with goals by Kirsten Davis and Charlotte Teeter fell short on the final day of the Wildcat Invitational at the Mulcahy Soccer Stadium Sunday afternoon.
"It's always difficult when you come out of a game and own every statistic imaginable, except for the one on the scoreboard," head coach Tom Stone said. Being down 3-0 is difficult to come back from but the team never wavered, we got in the second half and thought we played extremely well. ASU deserves credit for scoring three – we don't give up three goals very often. If we would've reached overtime nobody knows what would've happened but it looked like we had the legs and team to win it, but unfortunately, we ran out of time."
The Red Raiders (6-1-1) trailed going into the half, 1-0, as ASU (7-1-0) scored one minute before the half. ASU then bumped its lead to 3-0, scoring in the 53rd and 60th minute. Shortly after, Davis cut the deficit down to two with her sixth goal of the season in the 64th minute.

TTU carried that momentum and continued to push, winning a free kick just outside the box. The set-piece opportunity was taken by Teeter who blasted a shot into the upper-left corner for her first goal of the year.Â64' | KD gets us on the board!! pic.twitter.com/9ZSobhkGPM
