LUBBOCK, Texas – After nearly a two-week break, the Texas Tech cross country team travels to Stillwater for the Cowboy Jamboree Saturday morning.
The men will toe the starting line first as the 8k race is set to begin at 8 a.m. followed by the women's 6k race around 9:15 a.m.
"This weekend is a great opportunity for the team to preview the Big 12 Championship course while running one of the strongest meets of the season so far," said head coach Jon Murray. "It will be fun to see how the group has developed in the last two weeks. In these past few weeks, training has been a good time of work and development, so the meet will be an exciting chance to run and compete."
At the TTU Open two weekends ago, the men's and women's team placed second. Edward Rush captured the 4-mile title, clocking in a time of 19:38.6. Meanwhile, Walker Hendricks crossed the end line 14th (20:29.40) as Luke Estes (20:31.10) and Owen Likins (20:34.20) finished 17th and 19th, respectively, to cap off the top 20.
On the women's side two Red Raiders finished inside the top 10. Jazmyn Martinez paced TTU coming in sixth place (18:51.20), while Halena Rahmaan was just behind her with a seventh-place finish (19:03.60).
