
PREVIEW: Volleyball Hosts Kansas for Big 12 Opener

The Jayhawks come to Lubbock for the first time since 2019.
LUBBOCK, Texas – Big 12 Conference play opens at home as Texas Tech volleyball hosts the Kansas Jayhawks Friday, Sept. 24 and Saturday, Sept. 25 at United Supermarkets Arena.
Both matches are slated for 6 p.m. with Saturday's match scheduled as Greek Night. All Texas Tech Greek organizations are encouraged to come out Saturday night.
The Red Raiders will also celebrate Brooke Kanas with a senior recognition during the match. Each senior will be honored throughout the season at individual matches with the official senior day match held on Nov. 27 after the regular season finale against Texas.

RED RAIDER QUICK HITS
- Texas Tech closed out its nonconference slate with three wins at the Green Wave Invitational in Birmingham. The Red Raiders swept UAB and Tulane before beating Sam Houston in four sets to claim the tournament title. Kenna Sauer took tournament MVP honors while KJ Adams earned Defensive MVP and Reagan Cooper was named to the All-Tournament Team.
- Sauer and Adams were named Big 12 Offensive and Defensive players of the week after their performances at the Green Wave Invitational. Sauer tallied 49 kills (4.9 k/s) over the weekend with a career-high 30 kills against Sam Houston. She also recorded a career-high four aces against Tulane. Adams racked up 50 digs (5.0 d/s) in three matches as the Red Raiders dropped just one set all weekend. The libero earned her second Big 12 weekly award of the season and leads the conference in digs (204) and digs per set (4.64).
- The Red Raiders are out to their best start since 2018 when Tech opened the season with a 15-3 record. Tech's three losses this season have all come against ranked opponents, dropping matches against now No. 3 Ohio State, No. 21 Tennessee and No. 24 Colorado. Tech has won four of its last five matches and looks to carry the momentum over into conference play.
- Tech looks for its first win against Kansas since 2019 when the Red Raiders defeated the Jayhawks in five sets in Lubbock. Kansas has won the last three meetings and 19 of the last 20 overall. The Jayhawks hold a 34-17 series advantage with 14 wins against Tech in Lubbock.
