RED RAIDER QUICK HITS
- Texas Tech has established itself as one of the best blocking teams in the country, ranking third in total blocks (148) and fourteenth in blocks per set (2.74 b/s) in NCAA Division 1 this season. The Red Raiders have recorded double-digit blocks in eight matches so far, with a season-high 14.5 against Sam Houston (9/18).
- Red Raider libero KJ Adams ranks at the top of the Big 12 in digs (257) and digs per set (4.76 d/s). Her 257 digs are 27th most in the NCAA. The graduate transfer from Grand Canyon has already picked up two Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week honors in her first season in Lubbock. She set a career-high with 27 digs against Kansas last week and followed it up with 26 digs the next night. Adams has recorded double-digit digs in 13 of 15 matches this season with five matches of 20+ digs.
- Senior setter Alex Kirby nears a major career milestone as she is just 44 assists away from 2,000 in her career. The senior has 492 assists this season, third most in the Big 12. She has recorded five 40+ assist performances so far with a season-high 56 against Sam Houston (9/18).
- Ninth-ranked Baylor enters the contest on a six-match win streak after facing a difficult non-conference schedule in which the Bears faced five opponents ranked in the top 25. Last week the Bears started Big 12 play with a couple of sweeps over Kansas State on the road.
- The Red Raiders own a 50-38 advantage in the series against the Bears, but Baylor has won 29 of the last 32 meetings. The last Tech win came in 2018 when the Red Raiders knocked off No. 19 Baylor 3-1 in Waco.
