
Lady Raiders Open Big Week by Hosting Baylor

Tech will host No. 11 Baylor Wednesday and No. 13 Iowa State Friday
LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech Lady Raiders open a big week that features a pair of home games against top-15 opponents, Wednesday night when the 11th-ranked Baylor Lady Bears visit Lubbock for a 7 p.m. contest.
The Lady Raiders return home to the friendly confines of United Supermarkets Arena for the first time since Jan. 15 when they rolled past No. 25 Kansas State 64-45.

LAST TIME OUT:
The Lady Raiders fell 71-57 last Saturday afternoon despite 32 points from senior All-American Vivian Gray. Gray scored 15 of her 32 points in the opening quarter. Tech started quickly Saturday scoring six of the first seven points of the game. The run allowed the Lady Raiders to lead 19-18 after one period. In the second, Kansas outscored Tech 16-14 to take a one-point lead at the break. The difference in the game was the third quarter where KU outscored the Lady Raiders 20-10, turning seven Tech turnovers into 12 points. Needing a run, Tech opened the fourth with the first six points to cut the KU lead to just 54-49, but KU went on a 14-3 run to seal the 71-57 victory.
LIONS, TIGERS and BEARS:
The Lady Bears are led by first-year head coach Nicki Collen. The former head coach of the Atlanta Dream, Collen replaced Kim Mulkey who left for LSU. The Lady Bears enter Wednesday's matchup with an overall record of 13-4 overall and 3-2 in the Big 12. BU is now 190-11 in their last 201 Big 12 games. The Lady Bears lost back-to-back Big 12 games for the first time since the 2008-09 season and started 0-2 for the first time since 1999-00. Preseason Big 12 Player of the Year NaLyssa Smith is Baylor's most impactful player having scored 20.2 points on 52.6 percent shooting. Smith is averaging 11.8 rebounds per game. Sarah Andrews provides the Bears' best 3-point threat having shot 35-of-77 (45.5 percent) from behind the arc. Four Lady Bears are averaging in double figures this season.
