
Red Raiders ready for match at Kansas

LUBBOCK, Texas – After defeating the Oklahoma Sooners on Wednesday night, the Texas Tech Red Raider volleyball team (14-4, 3-2 Big 12) is back in action on Saturday afternoon with a match against the Kansas Jayhawks (13-5, 3-3 Big 12) at Horejsi Family Volleyball Arena starting at 1 p.m.
Against Oklahoma, both Kenna Sauer and Reese Rhodes collected double-doubles as Sauer totaled 14 kills and 10 digs and Rhodes tallied 52 assists and 11 digs. Caitlin Dugan had an impressive game after putting up a career-high tying eight blocks, while adding 13 kills. Reagan Cooper posted a team-high .412 hitting clip with 16 slams. Maddie Correa led the Red Raiders with 16 digs and KJ Adams collected 13 more.
Texas Tech is coming into the Kansas match leading the Big 12 with 1,017 digs and 15.18 digs per set. The Red Raiders also rank second in conference with 12.54 assists per set. In addition, Tech has 914 kills, 91 aces and 161.0 blocks on the season.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Kansas holds an all-time 17-36 record against the Red Raiders, winning the last five meetings dating back to Nov. 6, 2019. They have 13 wins on the season, with key victories coming against Utah, Kansas State, TCU and Oklahoma. As a team, they total 846 kills, 771 assists, 84 aces, 923 digs and 179 blocks. In the Big 12, Kansas ranks second in blocks and first in blocks per set with 2.75. They also sit at second in opponent hitting percentage as they have held teams to just .169 hitting on the season.
Offensively, Kansas has four players who tallies 100 or more kills on the season in Ayah Elnady (180), Caroline Bien (175), Lauren Dooley (112) and Rachel Langs (103). Camryn Turner leads the team with 602 assists, while Elnady posts a team-high 23 aces. Kennedy Farris leads the Jayhawks with 222 digs, followed by Turner with 190. Langs also has a team-leading 73 blocks and Dooley is close behind with 70.
