
No. 14 Baylor up next for Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech volleyball team is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 18 against the No. 14-ranked Baylor Bears at 7 p.m.in Ferrell Center.
The Red Raiders are coming off a tough, five-set loss to the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence where both Kenna Sauer and Reagan Cooper tallied double-digit kills. In addition, Brooke Kanas led with seven blocks of her own.
Sauer continues to lead the Red Raiders in both kills (282) and points (312.5), while Reese Rhodes posts a team-high 729 assists. Maddie O'Brien picked up two more aces against Kansas, pushing her season total to a team-leading 34 aces.
Defensively, Maddie Correa leads with 255 digs and Karrington Jones totals 71.0 blocks. As a team, Tech tallies 965 kills (13.4 kills per set), 887 assists, 95 aces, 1,067 digs and 173.0 blocks.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Texas Tech holds an all-time, 51-39 record against the Bears. However, Tech has lost six of the last seven meetings against Baylor. The Bears are 15-4 (4-2 Big 12) on the season with victories against Wisconsin, Arizona State, TCU, Kansas and Rice. The Bears total 921 kills (13.3 kills per set), 829 assists, 93 aces, 862 digs and 183.5 blocks.
Six Bears have over 120 kills as Lauren Harrison leads the team with 204 slams. Averi Carlson posts a team-high 718 assists, while Lauren Briseno leads with 23 aces. In addition, Briseno also has a team-high 220 digs and Kara McGhee leads the team with 109.0 blocks, which ranks fifth in the country.
