Tech finishes fourth at Jim West

SAN MARCOS, Texas – Led by strong performances from freshman Shannon Tan and Chiara Horder, the Texas Tech women's golf program finished fourth at the Jim West Challenge hosted by Texas State at the Kissing Tree Golf Club.
For the second straight event, Tan was Texas Tech's highest finisher, as the true freshman fired a final round 70 to finish at -3 overall. The score was good a tie for eighth.
The Red Raiders other under par score came from Horder, whose final round 71 added up to a cumulative score of -2 overall, which tied her for 11th place.
As a team, Tech fired a final round score of 284 (-4) to finish at -1 overall.
Oklahoma State took home the team title finishing at -9 overall, two shots ahead of second place SMU.
Houston ended up at -3 overall to finish third, while Tulane finished at +1 overall to clinch solo fifth.
Tulsa (+3) ended up in solo sixth, while Ohio State and TCU tied for seventh at +5. Oklahoma ended up ninth at +9, followed by Colorado (+15), UNLV (+19), Texas State (+21), New Mexico (+24), UTSA (+29) and Missouri (+40).
Carla Bernat (Tulane) and Moa Svedenskiold (Houston) shared the individual team title finishing at -8 overall.

This week's Jim West Challenge was the fifth and final event for Tech women's golf this fall. The Red Raiders return to action in mid-February (Feb. 12-13) for the Columbia Classic hosted by Columbia at Duran Golf Club in sunny Melbourne, Florida.
