Tech takes on No. 2 Texas Wednesday night in Austin

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech volleyball (14-7, 3-5 Big 12) is back in action as they travel to Austin for a match against the No. 2 Texas Longhorns on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. in Gregory Gymnasium.
Texas Tech is currently hitting .243 with 1,047 kills and 13.3 kills per set. The Red Raiders also tally 964 assists, 98 aces, 1,176 digs and 194.0 blocks.
Kenna Sauer continues to lead the team with 334.5 points and 302 kills, while Reese Rhodes has a team-high 729 assists and Maddie O'Brien posts a team-leading 36 aces, which also ranks tied for 35th in the nation. Both Maddie Correa and Sauer have over 200 digs as Correa leads with 278 and Sauer totals 218.
In addition, a few Red Raiders are close to career milestones. Rhodes tallies 984 career assists, only 26 away from 1,000. Brooke Kanas has 294 total blocks and 1,036 kills, only needing 1,039 kills to rank seventh in program history. Karrington Jones tallies 319 total blocks and needs 326 to rank 10th in program history.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Texas holds an all-time record of 9-93-2 against the Red Raiders, winning their first match of the season against Tech on October 2. The Longhorns have also won the last 43 meetings dating back to October 15, 2001. Texas is coming into tomorrow's match ranked No. 2 in the country after taking their first loss of the season last weekend against Iowa State, pushing their overall record to 15-1 and 7-1 in conference.
As a team, they lead the nation with a .330 hitting clip, while also collecting 809 kills (14.4 k/s). The Longhorns total 761 assists, 82 aces, 761 digs and 130.0 blocks. Logan Eggleston, the 2021 National Player of the Year, leads the team with 228 slams, followed by Madisen Skinner with 181. Saige Ka'aha'aina-Torres leads with 601 assists, while Zoe Fleck posts a team-high 248 digs and Asjia O'Neal tallies a team-leading 61.0 blocks.
