Tech hosts West Virginia on Saturday afternoon

LUBBOCK, Texas – After playing two road matches last week, the Red Raiders are finally back at home when they host the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday, November 19 at 1 p.m. in the United Supermarkets Arena.
The Red Raiders are coming off a four-set loss to the Iowa State Cyclones, who are receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll. In the match, Kenna Sauer led with 19 kills, followed by Karrington Jones with 12 and Reagan Cooper with 11. Brooke Kanas posted a team-high seven blocks and Reese Rhodes had a double-double with 47 assists and 10 digs.
Rhodes now totals 911 assists on the season, needing just 88 more to reach 1,000 assists on the year. Jones needs just two blocks to total 333 career blocks and rank eighth in program history.
Kanas continues to move up the record book as she now ranks fifth all-time in kills with 1,085. She also has played in 133 total matches, pushing her to fourth in school history in matches played.
As a team, the Red Raiders total 1,296 kills, 1,193 assists, 116 aces, 1,458 digs and 234.5 blocks. Sauer leads the team with 389 kills and 428.5 points, Maddie O'Brien posts a team-leading 39 aces and Kanas has a team-high .309 hitting percentage. Defensively, Kanas also leads with 99.0 blocks and Maddie Correa has a team-high 315 digs.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Texas Tech holds an all-time 14-9 record against the Mountaineers, winning the last three meetings versus West Virginia. This also includes a reverse sweep of the Mountaineers this season when Tech came home with a 3-2 victory in Morgantown on Sept. 24. West Virginia comes into the match with a 7-20 overall record and a 0-14 Big 12 record.
As a team, WVU is hitting .131 while allowing opponents to hit .197. They total 1,122 kills, 1,030 assists, 138 aces, 1,302 digs and 217.5 blocks. Offensively, they are led by both Bailey Miller and Adrian Ell, who have 278 and 275 kills, respectively. Kamiah Gibson leads the Mountaineers with 618 assists, while Skye Stokes has a team-high 30 aces. On the defensive side, Stokes leads with 356 digs and Tierney Jackson posts a team-high 87.0 blocks.
